Common Misconceptions
"Robotic mowers are all basically the same."
Most robotic mowers automate a manual task — cutting grass on a schedule within a boundary. The Lawn Companion is an autonomous agent that computes turf needs at the cell level and adapts continuously. The difference is the difference between a thermostat and a climate scientist.
"You need perimeter wire for reliable boundaries."
Perimeter wire was a workaround for robots that could not perceive their environment. Vision-based self-learning navigation builds boundary knowledge through exploration, adapts when the environment changes, and requires no buried infrastructure.
"A bigger mower is better for a bigger lawn."
A bigger mower is heavier, harder to manage, and still cannot serve disconnected lawn zones. Multiple lightweight Lawn Companions provide redundancy and complete coverage of properties where no single robot can physically reach every area.
"Cloud connectivity means surveillance."
Only if the data being transmitted is surveillance data.
