Before Activating

All you need to know to predict the efficacy of Volta in your yard.

The Volta X25 can maintain lawns up to ¼ acre (11,000 sq ft). For larger properties, you can deploy multiple X25 units to work together. Most of our users have lawns around 1/10 acre (3,000–5,000 sq ft).
Volta works best on lawns with a healthy, even grass surface — not on rugged terrain. The grass zone should be clearly defined, with distinct boundaries separating it from non-grass areas. Ambiguous edges may trigger safety mode. For best results and aesthetics, maintain well-marked borders. If you have small or delicate plants, be sure to physically protect them. And if you have pools or ponds, make sure they are securely and clearly delimited for safety.
Your yard should be mostly flat and free from trenches or terraced slopes exceeding 40%. Areas with steep drops must be physically blocked to prevent accidents. Volta is not suitable for rooftops, balconies, or elevated areas where it could fall.
A strong Wi-Fi signal is required at the location of the charging base. Ideally, your entire yard should have Wi-Fi coverage to enable features like high-precision operation, real-time updates, and remote access. If coverage is limited, we recommend installing an affordable Wi-Fi extender — it’s a future-proof upgrade that also benefits other outdoor smart devices.
Make sure you have a flat, grassy area with at least a 3-meter (10-feet) radius in the following spots: A) Directly in front of the charging base B) Before and after any zones where the Volta Companion crosses paths, driveways, or transitions. This ensures smooth navigation and reliable docking.
